Position Overview

Seeking a high-quality Maintenance Superintendent at the Fremont Division.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Facilities Superintendent will have primary responsibility for:

  • Managing three shifts of maintenance personnel,including but not limited to scheduling the shifts, reviewing maintenance personnel performance,assisting the HR manager and Operations Manager in hiring new personnel, determining appropriate staffing levels, and assigning maintenance tasks to qualified personnel.
  • Overseeing theLimble

    CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System) work order and preventive maintenance system and making sure that work orders are appropriately prioritized, assigned, and completed.
  • Manage all projects in the plant related to plant equipment installations, overhauls, or large upgrades of existing equipment. Ensure projects are planned, adequately staffed and completed on time.
  • Working with operations to schedule preventive maintenance items requiring machine down time to complete. Ideally, when a machine goes down unexpectedly, the Facilities Superintendent will make sure that all associated PMs are completed before turning the machine back over to production.
  • Working with Production to ensure that breakdowns are correctly diagnosed and repaired and that when the machine is repaired, there is a maintenance turnover to the production crew explaining what the problem was, what maintenance did to rectify and what to watch for/do in the future to prevent the breakdown.
  • Work with corporate engineering on various projects in the plant.
  • Work with the Parts Coordinator to make sure that MRO inventories are appropriate.
  • Work with outside contractors to schedule various machine audits throughout the year and work with the outside contractors to make sure that we have contracts in place, safety training complete, insurance updated and supervise the work being performed to make sure it is completedtothe termsof the contract/statement of work we negotiated with the contractor.
  • Identifytraining opportunities for maintenance personnel and develop individual training plans to include machine updates, latest technologies, tools, andtroubleshootingtechniques.

The Maintenance Facilities Superintendent will be a member of the Division Management Team and willberesponsible forrelaying and ensuring that Divisional policies are implemented throughout maintenance. The Facilities Superintendent will be expected tomaintainand develop departmental measurements aligned to the overall divisional strategy and vision and communicate them to the division management team.

Essential Duties:

In addition to a full complement of leadership skills including the ability to lead teams in a union environment it is also important for the Facilities Superintendent to bring knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling and personnel development. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively with seasoned maintenance professionals. Incorporating continuous improvement processes and best practices.

Qualifications
  • ABachelor's degree in engineeringor related field. Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • A PE license is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-mechanical and other automation devicesrequired.
  • Ability to read plans, prints, sketches and use those to direct fabrication or repair.
  • Current repair and maintenance (machine mechanical / electrical / hydraulics) skills required. While qualified candidates may come from outside the paper industry, it is expected that they will have similar experience in a highly automated process manufacturing environment and be accustomed to large-scale production in a commodity driven low-cost business.
