As a Co-op in our Mechanical Department you will gain a basic understanding of the duties of a Project Manager / Estimator and observe the construction process in the field and office. You will have the opportunity to shadow a Project Manager during a project and participate in the following activities:

• Safety
  • GEM safety orientation
  • Jobsite audits
  • Customer / Site-specific training
• Administrative Items
  • Plotting drawings
  • Drawing / document control
  • As-built drawings
  • RFI process
• Proposal Phase
  • Participate in development of proposals
  • Learn to do a take-off
  • Attend bid openings (public bid work)
  • Costing
    • Review field labor
      
      Track delivered materials
  • Project Meetings
    • Pre-planning
    • Cost reviews
  • Subcontractor Management
    • Labor management - goal setting and tracking
    • Equipment tracking
    • Material management

  You will also gain an understanding of how the office, field, fab-shop and CAD departments team up to complete a successful project by spending time with a mentor as well as spending time in each department learning how it works.
