Starting Salary: $23.00 per hour
Under direction of the University Director for Real Estate and Strategic Initiatives, the Custodian will provide general cleaning and minor maintenance duties as assigned by Director of Facility Management. Maintains building, adjacent walks, equipment and grounds in a safe, clean and hygienic manner for all staff, students and visitors.
Essential Job Functions- Receives oral or written orders from Director of Real Estate and performs work according to standard procedures and by building schedule.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, showers/workout room, offices, stairways and windows.
- Uses vacuum cleaners, floor burnishers and scrubbers and other equipment as directed.
- Performs touch up and finish painting.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Sets up and tears down chairs, tables, and trash cans in meeting rooms and function rooms.
- Strips, waxes, buffs floors.
- Aids officials, staff, visitors, and other employees as necessary.
- Participates in building coverage by working on Saturdays as required.
- Clears snow from entrances and walkways as directed.
- Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.

Minimum Requirements- High school Diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years custodial experience.
This is a full‑time position serving the University central offices and campus. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
Work LocationOn-site in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers, and talk or hear. This is an active position, involving walking, climbing, lifting, stooping, and bending. Must be able to lift in excess of 25 pounds. Must be able to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow.
