Role

For the expansion of our German commercial legal team, argenx is looking for a Legal Counsel Germany.

Purpose:

to support the rapid growth of our German business. Focus is primarily on Legal matters, with possibility to support local Compliance. The role is the legal business partner for global and regional commercialization teams. The successful candidate should have subject matter expertise relevant globally and may be involved in projects outside of Germany. The role will be managed by the Legal Lead for Germany and report to the Head of Legal GER & DM.

Responsibilities
  • Represent Legal as a strong business partner enabling risk-appropriate decision-making
  • Provide strategic, tactical and operational legal and business insight on the commercial launch of argenx product candidates
  • Advise on programs, initiatives, engagements, and materials related to sales, marketing, market access, non-promotional education activities, patient engagement and scientific exchange
  • Identify training needs and develop and present training on relevant laws and legal/business issues
  • Stay abreast of significant legal developments affecting the company
  • Provide advice on applications and maintenance of authorizations, permits, licenses and communications for local operations, including distribution and marketing
  • Assess and manage external legal counsel within budget
  • Coordinate with argenx Compliance colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills And Competencies
  • Broad knowledge of general commercial and regulatory law in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Judgment and business acumen with understanding of strategy and operations
  • Fluent in German and English; other languages preferred
  • Experience in specialty markets, particularly rare diseases, preferred
  • Analytical, able to use data to support decisions and communicate complex ideas simply
  • Collaborative and effective in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication in a multi-cultural global environment
  • Agile, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, trust-building and resilience
  • Ability to operate in dynamic, complex, fast-changing environments
  • Project management, proactive planning, priority setting, and alignment

Education, Experience
  • German law degree and license to practice law
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or biotech/pharma, ideally experience as legal business partner internationally
