Ohio EPA Environmental Specialist
What we do:
At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.
What you will do:
The Ohio EPA is seeking an Environmental Specialist for the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at the Southeast District Office in Logan.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and processing permit-to-install (PTI), permit-to-operate, and Title V permit applications for air contaminant emissions units to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Recommending appropriate actions for applications and conducting inspections of air pollution emissions units.
- Evaluating compliance performance tests, preparing site investigation reports, and writing follow-up correspondence.
- Participating in public meetings, hearings, and assisting with variance applications.
- Performing compliance monitoring, inspecting facilities, and preparing inspection reports.
- Reviewing reports and data submissions electronically via the STARS system.
- Investigating air pollution complaints, meeting with stakeholders, and recommending actions.
- Providing technical support to facilities and participating in community outreach events.
Qualifications:
- Four years of training or experience in geology, hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, or related fields, with experience relevant to the duties.
- Or a baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental or earth sciences, urban or regional planning.
- Or experience in providing financial, technical, and administrative assistance for environmental projects, including coursework in related fields or equivalent experience.
- Or 12 months of experience as an Environmental Specialist 1.
