Throughout your internship, you will have regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and receive customized training from our business units. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and abroad. Interns will gain first-hand exposure to Stanley Black & Decker and have the opportunity to build a cross‑functional professional network.

Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and confidence. Interns must be team‑oriented and collaborative.

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to support the Design to Value (DTV) Engineering Team with key activities including:

• Ownership of the planning and execution of a DTV Event for a specific product portfolio.
• Building and maintaining project schedules to execute on time events.
• Executing product teardowns and generating cost out ideas.
• Vetting the cost out ideas in a collaborative environment with a range of stakeholders including Engineering, Product Marketing, Sourcing, & Operations.
• Loading and facilitating the cost out ideas using a variety of software including Microsoft Excel, Smart Sheets, and Protrak.
• Development of critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for reporting and tracking.
• Continuous Improvement – make suggestions for opportunities to improve our process and delivery of new cost out opportunities.

You will have exposure to several areas of the DTV Engineering Team at Stanley Black & Decker. You will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects with a cross‑functional team of professionals, including Engineering, Product Marketing, Sourcing, & Operations.

The ideal Mechanical Engineering intern candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Be a rising junior or senior with a target graduation date of 2027 or 2028.
• Actively pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Maintain strong academic credentials.
• Successfully manage strong academics alongside extracurricular activities.
• Exemplify strong project management and communication skills.
• Possess resiliency in your ability to break down barriers and think creatively.
• Be a self‑starter that is willing to drive toward long‑term goals with minimal supervision.
