Supervise the work of Combined Cycle Plant Technician classification employees in executing plant safety, environmental, operation and maintenance responsibilities to achieve efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the plant and its equipment. Monitor costs and identify reasons for, and mitigate variances. Supervise CC Plant Technicians in the installation, overhaul, alteration, maintenance and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment, instruments, controls, or building.
Assist in planning, coordinating and supervising outage related activities. Ensure compliance with safety and health and environmental regulations.
Waterford Power LLC is a Combined Cycle 3X1 875mw Power Plant consisting of three GE 7FA Combustion Turbines, three Nooter HRSG’s, one GE D11 Steam Turbine and supporting balance of plant equipment. The generating facility was commissioned for commercial operation in 2003.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Maintain and ensure safe working conditions, use of proper tools and equipment, and protective clothing & devices. This includes housekeeping activities, participation in accident investigations and the use of root cause analysis or other methods in order to maintain a safe work environment. Oversee and supervise safety and environmental training of assigned employees.
- Supervise, coordinate, plan, direct, and/or organize plant operation activities including inspection and analysis of equipment, capital improvements, various operations and maintenance programs, and/or staffing requirements.
- Coordinate the planning and resources requirements for plant outages including developing work flow charts and critical paths, analyzing and overseeing requisition of material and equipment needs.
- Direct and coordinate contract labor in the execution of plant projects and outages.
- Participate in the development of plant O&M and capital forecasts. Track and control expenditures to meet approved financial performance.
- Oversee inspections and analysis of equipment, operating and maintenance problems determine root cause, implement improvements or corrective actions.
- Investigate abnormal operating conditions, equipment failures and improvements in equipment design.
- Monitor and complete environmental reports and testing required to maintain compliance to meet State and/or Federal permits and guidelines.
- Participate in professional organizations and community activities.
- Instruct employees in permit sampling/testing and completion of environmental reports such as the NPDES DMR or CEMS reporting, and System expertise i.e.:
Mark V or VI - Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of power plant operations and maintenance experience, with preference for Combined Cycle facilities.
- At least 2 years of experience as a CC Plant Tech-Lead or equivalent leadership role in plant operations.
- Strong working knowledge of plant operating and maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise operating plant systems safely and efficiently during startup, normal operation, and shutdown, including:
- Boilers / HRSGs
- Steam and combustion turbines
- Generators
- Condensers
- Boiler feed pumps
- Exciters
- Transformers and auxiliary systems
- Proficiency in control room operations, power block operations, and Water Treatment Plant processes.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, calibrate, and adjust plant instrumentation and control systems; capable of diagnosing issues and performing repairs on basic control circuits and protective systems.
- Knowledge of chemical testing methods, industrial hygiene practices, and environmental sampling techniques.
- Working knowledge of minor plant maintenance, materials, tools, rigging, scaffolding, blocking, and safe work practices.
- Understanding of heat balance systems and how system imbalances affect plant efficiency.
- Ohio Boiler Operator License preferred but not required.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
