As Head of Enzyme Technology Germany/Head of Protein Chemistry
you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment
, working with cutting edge technologies and a broad portfolio of diverse projects
.

Your Responsibilities:

• Head a team of Scientists and Technicians
  (around 7 employees)
• Oversee the R&D activities of the team, i.e.
• Protein characterization using biochemical and biophysical techniques with focus on enzymes
• Development of analytical methods to measure enzyme activity
• Enzyme discovery
  , enzyme engineering and high-throughput screening
• Give scientific guidance and input to your direct reports
• Manage and allocate resources
• Work in project teams
  , in which you are accountable for the contributions from your team to ensure optimal way of working
• Build the team and capabilities to further develop our enzymology and protein characterization expertise
• Contribute to R&D Technology Strategy development and its implementation into the global Enzyme Technology discipline
• Closely collaborate with the other teams within global Enzyme Technology in Germany and Finland
• Collaborate with other disciplines within R&D and beyond
• Ensure best HSE practices are implemented and followed
• Represent the team both internally and externally
• The Role is based in Darmstadt, Germany

• PhD in biochemistry or related field
  , several years of subsequent academic or industrial R&D experience, preferably in the enzyme industry
• A profound knowledge in enzymology and protein structure-function relationships
• Clear experience in the field of industrial enzymes
  , especially carbohydrate-degrading enzymes
• A strong background in protein engineering and HTS
• Demonstrated leadership experience and cultural agility
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Pro-active problem solver and innovator with a passion for understanding
  , improving and using enzymes
• Fluent in English
  ; German or Finish is a plus
