The API Inspector will perform inspections on pressure vessel, piping, and/or above ground storage tank equipment for the purpose of certifying compliance and/or recommending and approving repairs in accordance with one or more of the following API standards:
- API 510
- API 570
- Perform internal and external inspections on equipment at scheduled intervals to maintain the mechanical integrity of the fixed equipment of the refinery.
- Perform visual inspection of completed work and recommend and approve repairs.
- Assist in the scheduling of activities related to inspection.
- Use proper safety procedures and equipment.
- Properly use and complete customer and company job related forms and paperwork.
- Abide by Company policies and procedures.
- Complete all required training, including tests, within Company guidelines.
- Perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
- Prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.
- Deliver reports to clients.
- Work outdoors in a plant atmosphere.
- Work in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
- Wear required safety equipment.
- May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
- Possess the related API certification (510 and 570) with at least one year of related experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical school or college credits preferred.
- Proficient with MS Word and Excel and able to write detailed inspection reports.
- Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.
- Capable of climbing, working at high elevations and working in confined spaces.
- Must be able to walk and climb to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, permitting effective communication.
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, permitting investigation.
- Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, permitting routine office duties.
- Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
