Founding Robotics Engineer

I am supporting an early-stage robotics and AI startup that is building intelligent systems combining robotics, real-time control, and modern AI.

They are looking for a Founding Engineer (Robotics) to lead and shape the robotics function from the ground up. This is a hands‑on leadership role with significant technical ownership and the autonomy to define how robotics is built within the company.

• Define the technical vision and direction for robotics
• Lead development across real-time control, motion planning, and SLAM
• Build and evolve robotics systems using ROS / ROS2
• Work with simulation tools such as Gazebo or similar environments
• Write clean, maintainable code primarily in Python
• Collaborate closely with AI and LLM engineers
• Establish engineering principles and ways of working
• Support and mentor team members as the robotics function grows

• 2‑3 years of experience in robotics or related fields
• Strong experience with ROS or ROS2
• Background in robotics, AI‑driven systems, research labs, or scientific instrumentation
• Comfortable working in early‑stage environments with evolving requirements
• Curious, ambitious, and motivated by learning and building
• Academic background is flexible – candidates from industry or academia are welcome
• No formal titles or degrees required, but relevant projects and practical experience are important
