We engage in a range of tasks surrounding NPD and product improvement projects for the Husqvarna Automower. Our team interfaces closely with our engineering counterparts in Sweden. We maintain an atmosphere in the group that is warm, unpretentious and open, but our high level of ambition drives challenging tasks at a rapid pace.

The Systems Engineer will drive cross-disciplinary investigations and requirements management for electronics, software, mechanics, and digital solutions within the North American Robotic Mower R&D team. This role plays a central part in defining system architecture, translating market and user requirements into technical specifications, and coordinating execution across local Charlotte teams and international counterparts in Sweden.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Management to monitor upcoming projects and validate requests (One Pager, Concept Review).
  • Lead technical investigations and participate in system design and requirement management across electronics, software, mechanics, and digital solutions.
  • Own system architecture deliverables and requirements baselines aligned to market and user needs.

  • Oversee hardware/wiring completeness and minimize electromagnetic interference in hardware placement.
  • Support software bundle management, bug tracking, and feature requests (Jira, Bundle Box).
  • Maintain regular communication with Swedish R&D counterparts and other international teams.
  • Liaise with Purchasing, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to coordinate pilot runs and project communications.
  • Partner with Mechanical and Testing teams to ensure requirements-based testing and complete DVPR documentation.
  • Complete all required Product Creation Process (PCP) activities, documentation, and reporting in HPM.
  • Utilize Visure, Team Center, CAD visualization, Confluence, Jira, and Star Team for requirements tracking and documentation.
  • Participate in System Requirements Forum and System Architecture Forum as scheduled.
  • Drive cost reduction and product improvement initiatives; recommend and implement quality improvements.
  • Stay informed on competitor products, emerging technologies, and applicable industry standards.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Distribution, and end customers to analyze and resolve field issues and warranty cases.
  • Leverage field feedback to inform requirements and future roadmap.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Background in electronics, embedded systems, robotics, or mechatronics preferred; mechanical engineering acceptable with relevant application experience.
  • Experience with product design, requirements management, and cross-functional team leadership.
