About the OpportunityA fast-growing, innovation-driven manufacturer in the safety and protective equipment space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development, testing, and validation of advanced products, materials, and technologies. This is a newly created role offering strong visibility to leadership and the opportunity to directly impact product performance, user safety, and next-generation innovation.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on lab work, product development, and translating technical insights into real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities Technology & Materials Innovation- Identify and evaluate emerging raw materials and supplier capabilities
- Research and implement new technologies and testing methods to improve product performance and safety
- Source or develop advanced testing equipment to maintain industry-leading capabilities
- Develop and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Oversee calibration schedules and maintain accurate lab records
- Review and approve technical reports from lab testing activities
- Perform CAD modeling and support 3D printing initiatives
- Lead injury replication testing and controlled simulation processes
- Maintain competitive product analyses and technical documentation
- Partner with product leadership to bring innovations to market
- Support customer visits and serve as a technical expert on product performance and compliance
- Help create engaging demonstrations for customers and sales teams
- Participate in customer experience and product education sessions
- Contribute technical content for sales and marketing materials
- Collaborate with universities and support internship programs
- Attend trade shows and industry events as a technical representative
- Mentor junior R&D staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in product development, testing, or materials engineering
- CAD and 3D printing experience required
- Injection molding knowledge a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Passion for innovation and safety-focused design
- Willingness to travel occasionally
