Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team designing robotic cells, automation systems, and special-purpose machinery. This role offers full lifecycle ownership of mechanical design projects using Solid Works, from concept through customer runoff.

• Design 3D mechanical models for special machines, press stations, robotic cells, EOAT, and automated assembly systems
• Create detailed assembly and component drawings and supporting documentation
• Perform static and dynamic engineering calculations
• Size and select motion control and mechanical components
• Interpret and analyze technical and manufacturing drawings
• Develop process, function, and cycle-time documentation
• Collaborate with controls engineering and manufacturing teams
• Maintain drawings and documentation to reflect design or process changes
• Support troubleshooting from design phase through customer acceptance

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in automation, special machinery, or robotic integration
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of ANSI, ISO, DIN standards and metric systems
• Experience with machine and robotic safety standards
• Proficient in Solid Works with cradle-to-grave automated machinery experience
• Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in automation or robotics
• Experience working in a Solid Works PDM environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Willing to work overtime as needed
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%)
