Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team designing robotic cells, automation systems, and special-purpose machinery. This role offers full lifecycle ownership of mechanical design projects using Solid Works, from concept through customer runoff.
Responsibilities- Design 3D mechanical models for special machines, press stations, robotic cells, EOAT, and automated assembly systems
- Create detailed assembly and component drawings and supporting documentation
- Perform static and dynamic engineering calculations
- Size and select motion control and mechanical components
- Interpret and analyze technical and manufacturing drawings
- Develop process, function, and cycle-time documentation
- Collaborate with controls engineering and manufacturing teams
- Maintain drawings and documentation to reflect design or process changes
- Support troubleshooting from design phase through customer acceptance
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience in automation, special machinery, or robotic integration
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of ANSI, ISO, DIN standards and metric systems
- Experience with machine and robotic safety standards
- Proficient in Solid Works with cradle-to-grave automated machinery experience
- Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience in automation or robotics
- Experience working in a Solid Works PDM environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Self-motivated team player with a creative, solutions-driven mindset
- Strong math, mechanics, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Willing to work overtime as needed
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%)
