Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our fast‑paced custom automation and machine building firm

You will manage automation projects incorporating robots, machine vision, and motion control systems to solve complex manufacturing challenges across multiple industries. We value transparency, quality, and speed in how projects are executed, and the Project Manager plays a central role in driving those outcomes.

In addition to core project management responsibilities, this role requires hands‑on engagement—supporting application development, coordinating shop activities, and assisting through machine build, FAT, and installation as needed. This is a high‑visibility position for someone who thrives in a technical environment and enjoys seeing projects through from concept to customer acceptance.

Duties
1. Project Ownership & Planning
  • Own projects from PO receipt through FAT, delivery, and SAT
  • Develop and maintain project schedules (engineering, build, debug, FAT, install)
  • Define scope boundaries and manage change orders

  • Monitor labor hours vs estimate and flag overruns early
  • Coordinate and process change orders and billing milestones
3. Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls, and technicians
  • Align purchasing and fabrication with project schedule
  • Resolve resource conflicts and sequencing issues
  • Drive internal accountability to deadlines
4. Customer Communication
  • Serve as primary customer point of contact
  • Run regular project status meetings and issue logs
  • Communicate risks, delays, and corrective actions proactively
  • Manage expectations through FAT and installation
5. Technical Oversight (Non-Design)
  • Understand system architecture and key technical risks
  • Ensure designs meet customer specifications and applicable standards
  • Facilitate design reviews and approvals
  • Escalate technical blockers to engineering leadership
Required Qualifications
  • US Citizenship Required (we work on Government Projects - Green Card will not be acceptable)
  • 5 years of work experience in custom automation (Mechanical Design or Controls Programmer)
  • Customer run‑off and issue troubleshooting experience required
  • Live near Westerville, Ohio area
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years of Project Management experience in custom automation
