Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Software Engineer Lead to guide our growing software development team through strategic planning, technical execution, and day-to-day operations. This newly created role blends hands-on software expertise with leadership and supervisory responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned developer with a passion for mentoring, process improvement, and driving programmatic success across multiple projects.

As the Software Engineer Lead, you will serve as the technical and operational anchor for the team—ensuring high-quality code delivery, fostering collaboration, and aligning development efforts with organizational goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Designs, develops, documents, tests, maintains, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls;

prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or supervisory role
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript)
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and inspire teams
• Clearance:
  Minimum Secret clearance is required to start
• Must have TS/SCI security clearance

Physical Requirements

May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
