To perform service (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on equipment at external or Hiab locations in line with Manager’s instructions. Responsible for contributing to productive customer relationships as well as following best practice in all administrative and technical activities. The Hiab facility is located in Monclova, OH, however all field service work will be conducted in the Fort Wayne, IN and surrounding areas.
MainTasks and Responsibilities Technical and Product Knowledge
- Stay up to date with technical developments as shown in internal service bulletins and follow technical courses when instructed by District Service Manager applicable to equipment.
- Stay current with technical specifications of relevant equipment.
- Respond to Customer in a way instructed by the District Service Manager to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines.
- Protect self and others.
- Follow applicable safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements.
- Alert District Service Manager if equipment safety is jeopardized.
- Operate assigned service vehicle in compliance with Hiab driving policy and relevant regulations.
- Maintain assigned service vehicle to manufacturer standards with support from fleet management.
- Respect and protect Hiab and third party property (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment) and business activities.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan and then conduct service or repair as instructed by District Service Manager.
- Submit regular reports in the format specified by District Service Manager.
- Keep adequate records and maintain documentation in line with agreed standards.
- Plan and manage time and resources for maximum benefit of Hiab and the customer.
- Make judgments about the most cost‑effective and efficient approach to providing service.
- Maintain documentation to ensure accurate invoicing to the customer.
- Manage and protect the security and traceability of spare parts.
- Recognize sales opportunities and communicate to District Service Manager.
- Provide feedback to District Service Manager to support continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in innovative thinking about ways to improve service efficiency.
- Coach/tutor junior colleagues and trainees as necessary.
- Conduct self in a way that promotes a positive image of the Hiab brand and follow rules of the Quality System.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Hold a 1‑year DOT Medical Card.
- Mobile, adaptable and able to work in variable physical site conditions without direct supervision.
- Qualification from higher vocational school (or equivalent experience) in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics and electronics.
- Working technical knowledge of all Hiab product lines.
- Knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic drive systems.
