OverviewThis position is employed by the Greene County Educational Service Center. The Preschool Program is located in the Friends Care Center, a non-school environment, and serves students from the Yellow Springs and Cedar Cliff school districts.
Qualifications- Bachelor s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education with either an Intervention Specialist or Early Education of the Handicapped Licensure
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Teaching License
- Self-motivated and has experience working with children with a variety of special needs
- Experience and/or training with Autism and/or social emotional learning is a plus
- Must meet legal requirements relative to a criminal background check
- Plans and implements developmentally appropriate lessons and activities, individualizing for all students while aligning with the preschool curriculum and Ohio content standards
- Implements developmentally appropriate classroom management; uses Conscious Discipline and PBIS behavioral supports
- Collaborates with other teachers and shares resources to enhance learning
- Maintains strong communication in verbal, written, and nonverbal forms
- Participates in the preschool evaluation process and prepares evaluation team reports (ETR)
- Helps prepare and implement Section 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for eligible students
- Supports an inclusive educational environment; typically 50% typically developing and 50% with special needs
- Works with a multidisciplinary team (including teaching assistants and therapists such as speech, OT, PT, APE, etc.)
- Uses technology in instructional and records management activities and is comfortable with various tools
- Administers standardized and observation-based assessments and follows test security procedures
- Maintains accurate documentation and submits reports on time
- Develops a positive, safe, and accepting learning environment
- Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events; provides open communication between school and families
- Participates in staff meetings and pursues professional growth opportunities
- Meets preschool licensure and SUTQ requirements with PD hours and an active OCCRRA account
- Training or willingness to be trained in Communicable Disease, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, and CPI
- Duties may include lifting, standing, bending, crouching, and kneeling; may involve diapering or helping with personal care tasks
- Updated physical examination every 3 years
- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases; potential for interaction with disruptive children
- Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality
In accordance with the salary schedule commensurate with training and experience
