Building Principal and Director of Student Services

The PK-12 School Counselor is responsible for delivering a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student success. This includes academic achievement, career development, and personal/social growth. The counselor collaborates with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a supportive environment that addresses the needs of all students.

184 teacher contract days plus extended time as needed

Will follow established district procedures

• Program Management and Evaluation:
  • Program Development: Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the school and district mission/vision and state and national standards.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program and make improvements.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with educational and counseling trends through ongoing professional development.
• Academic Support:
  • Individual Student Planning: Assist students in setting academic goals and developing a plan to achieve them.
  • Classroom Guidance: Deliver curriculum on topics such as study skills, time management, and test taking strategies.
  • Academic Advising: Provide guidance on course selection, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning.
• Personal/Social Development:
  • Counseling Services: Offer individual and group counseling to address personal, social, and emotional issues.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to and provide support during student crises, including collaboration with outside agencies.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts between students and help them develop problem‑solving skills.

    Work with parents and teachers to address student needs and improve student outcomes.

    Collaborate with school staff to create a safe and inclusive school environment.
  • Community Resources: Connect students and families with community resources for additional support.
  • Coordinate 504 services, including identification of students, program planning and evaluation, facilitation of communication between home and school.
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings as needed.
  • Attend and participate in MTSS meetings.
• Career Development as appropriate:
  • Career Counseling: Guide students in exploring career interests and options, including college and vocational paths.

    Provide information on career resources, labor market trends, and job search techniques.
  • State and District Testing Support: Assist the District Testing Coordinator in the coordination and organization of all testing.
  • Assist the District Testing Coordinator in setting schedules and oversee all state and district testing.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by administration.
