Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Media, and Sports invites applications for the position of

Junior Professor of Personality Psychology and Psychological Assessment

Beginning as soon as possible.

Salary grade W 1 LBesG | Civil servant with a fixed-term contract

The junior professor is organizationally assigned to the Department of Personality Psychology and Psychological Assessment, but performs its research and teaching tasks independently and autonomously.

Tasks and expectations:

We are looking for a personality (m/f/d)

  • An internationally visible research profile in the field of personality psychology and/or psychological assessment as it can be expected in an early career stage. Publications in international journals are expected.
  • Experience in acquiring and implementing third-party funded projects is an advantage.
  • In terms of teaching, the junior professor will contribute to the personality psychology and psychological assessment curriculum for the bachelor's and master's degree programs in Psychology and psychotherapy.
  • The courses are taught in German, the necessary language skills must therefore be available.
  • A willingness to participate in academic self-administration is expepected
  • In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applications must meet the requirements stipulated in § 54 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and JGU are committed to close personal mentoring of students and therefore expect teaching staff to have a strong presence at the university. A cooperative, team oriented and proactive work attitude, strong communication skills, and the willingness to assume responsibility – including further professional development in accordance with JGU’s leadership guidelines – is also expected.

Junior professors are appointed as civil servants for a period of six years. In the fourth year, the junior professor’s performance level will be evaluated in order to provide orientation for the following three years.
