Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) offers substitute teachers the opportunity to work in a variety of school settings throughout Ohio. Substitute teachers play an important role in a student's education. We assist in placing substitute teachers in vacant positions to facilitate a student's education in the absence of their teacher. OSTS is proud to support Indian Valley Local Schools in the employment of substitute teachers.

• Follow lesson plans to ensure continuity of education.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment.
• Ensure student supervision and never leave students unattended.
• Keep students safe and engaged in the learning process.
• Monitor student progress and assist where needed.
• Maintain existing classroom management and discipline procedures.
• Understand school policy and procedures.
• Provide written feedback to the regular classroom teacher about the day's activities and student behavior.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.

• Criminal record check:
  Clean record, FBI and BCI background checks within 365 days of hire.
• Bachelor's Degree in any field.
• Three professional references.
• Teaching License:
  Either obtain an Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License or possess a teaching license.
• Training:
  Complete Sub Skills Online training (if applicable after hire) and submit all mandatory professional development modules via Public School Works .
• Effective communication:
  Accurate and effective written and oral communication.
• Punctuality:
  Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.
• Professional conduct:
  Adhere to Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

• Enrollment in State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).
• No nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Consistent, but flexible, scheduling.
• Exposure to the education field.
• Networking and professional references.
