Substitute Teacher, Indian Valley Local Schools
Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) offers substitute teachers the opportunity to work in a variety of school settings throughout Ohio. Substitute teachers play an important role in a student's education. We assist in placing substitute teachers in vacant positions to facilitate a student's education in the absence of their teacher. OSTS is proud to support Indian Valley Local Schools in the employment of substitute teachers.

Responsibilities- Follow lesson plans to ensure continuity of education.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment.
- Ensure student supervision and never leave students unattended.
- Keep students safe and engaged in the learning process.
- Monitor student progress and assist where needed.
- Maintain existing classroom management and discipline procedures.
- Understand school policy and procedures.
- Provide written feedback to the regular classroom teacher about the day's activities and student behavior.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Criminal record check:
Clean record, FBI and BCI background checks within 365 days of hire. - Bachelor's Degree in any field.
- Three professional references.
- Teaching License:
Either obtain an Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License or possess a teaching license. - Training:
Complete Sub Skills Online training (if applicable after hire) and submit all mandatory professional development modules via Public School Works . - Effective communication:
Accurate and effective written and oral communication. - Punctuality:
Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual. - Professional conduct:
Adhere to Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
- Enrollment in State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).
- No nights, weekends, or holidays.
- Consistent, but flexible, scheduling.
- Exposure to the education field.
- Networking and professional references.
