GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment conducive to learning and personal growth and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education. K-8, 4-9 SS, 7-12 SS
  • Must meet Ohio Department of Education "Highly Qualified" Standards.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach district approved curriculum.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Confer with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls and conferences to communicate students' progress.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to identify and resolve students' health, attitude and learning problems.
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aids and maintain required inventory records.
  • Administer group standardized tests and competency tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements.
  • Establish and maintain an appropriate discipline plan for the classroom and assist in maintaining discipline within the school environment in accordance with district discipline policies.
