with a tenure-track option to a W2 professorship as soon as possible.
This junior professorship is located at the Institute of Health (IfG) at the Senftenberg campus of BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg. The IfG ( ) was established in 2016 in response to the region’s structural transformation and aims to assume a leading role in health science research and in the establishment of academic education in the health professions. In addition to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Midwifery Science (B.Sc.),
the IfG offers Bachelor’s programmes in Nursing Science (B.Sc.), Therapy Sciences (B.Sc.) and a Master’s programme in Vocational Education for Health Professions (M.A.). In the future, an additional consecutive Master’s programme with a research profile is planned.
The overall objective of the IfG is to qualify graduates of discipline‑specific Bachelor’s programmes for roles in healthcare provision, and graduates of interdisciplinary Master’s programmes for roles in education within the health professions or for research positions in the health sector.
We are seeking:
An academically distinguished candidate with national and international visibility and experience in the field of midwifery science, demonstrated through relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
The junior professorship is expected to represent this field in research and teaching within the Bachelor’s programme in Midwifery Science and in other study programmes ching duties will be carried out in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes and in German and English. Where German language proficiency is not yet sufficient, a commitment to acquire the language promptly is required to ensure effective participation in institute and faculty administration, as well as in university and non-university committees, and to deliver Bachelor-level teaching in German.
We expect an openness to engage with the faculty’s research priorities, a willingness to collaborate across disciplines, a commitment to advancing the professionalisation of the health professions (especially midwifery), to contribute to the further development of the IfG, and to actively participate in academic self‑governance.
