The Preschool Program is operated by the Greene County Educational Service Center (GCESC). It serves children ages 3‑5, including 50% of students with disabilities and 50% without disabilities. This is a public school position managed by GCESC.
The paraprofessional will work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00‑3:00 am (no school on Wednesdays) during the school year.
Qualifications- Associate’s Degree or higher, 48 semester hours, or passing score on State Board of Education Para Pro Assessment
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit
- Experience and/or training with preschool aged students is a plus but not mandatory
- Experience working with children with special needs and/or visual impairments is a plus but not mandatory
- Meet legal requirements relative to a criminal background check
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record and punctuality
- Assist teacher and other preschool staff working with children ages 3‑5 in a small preschool setting that accommodates children with special needs
- Assist preschool aged children with daily tasks, routines, picture schedules, and work
- Take teacher direction and implement assigned tasks into daily routines
- Work collaboratively with preschool staff to provide a multidisciplinary team approach
- Work collaboratively with teacher in the best interest of children
- Must meet preschool licensure laws with PD hours and develop an OCCRRA account
- Must be trained or willing to be trained in Communicable Disease, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, and CPI
- Duties may require lifting, carrying, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, and/or kneeling
- Duties may include diapering or potty training and assisting with personal care tasks; assistance with low‑vision needs as directed by school nurse and/or visual impairment specialist
- Must maintain an updated physical every 3 years
- Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases
- Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly children
In accordance with the GCESC salary schedule; starting salary begins around $17+ per hour and commensurates with training and experience.
