Base Pay Range

$60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

Position Summary

Under the guidance and direction of the Dean of Workforce Development, perform the following key functions:

  • Deliver in-person instruction in welding courses including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
  • Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and grading criteria.
  • Teach both classroom and lab components with emphasis on safety and industry standards.
  • Maintain AWS instructional and testing standards and ensure lab equipment is properly used and maintained.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career pathways, and workforce readiness.
  • Participate in student recruitment, open houses, industry engagement, and outreach events.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours for student support and consultation.
  • Continuously assess student learning outcomes and contribute to curriculum updates and program improvement.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and accrediting body standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to align curriculum with workforce needs.
  • Support college initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student retention.
  • Engage in professional development to stay current with welding technology and instructional practices.
  • Participate in departmental and college committees and activities as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional services:
    Teach courses as scheduled, manage course operations at our Logan, OH facility, develop course outcomes and curriculum consistent with academic standards, convey course expectations, organize instructional activities, use learner‑centered methods, seek feedback, update courses, and maintain documentation.
  • Perform Student Academic Advising

    Activities:

    Assist with recruitment and placement, engage in advising, maintain office hours, advise students with difficulties, maintain records, direct students to resources, maintain confidentiality.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development:
    Set growth goals, identify development needs, maintain certifications, seek resources, participate in development programs.
  • Participate in Department

    Activities:

    Work cooperatively, share expertise, resolve concerns, participate in meetings, follow policies.
  • Proactively identify and assist in promoting the program and department:
    Develop promotional materials, represent program, participate in advisory meetings, collaborate with coordinator for articulation agreements, represent at events, assist in programming for camps, attend community events.
  • Participate in Academic Affairs and Institutional

    Activities:

    Familiar with mission, follow policies, promote working relationship, participate in activities and committees, participate in student enrollment, contribute to assessment.
  • Qualifications – Education, Experience, And Skills
    • Associate Degree in Welding Technology or closely related field. Post‑secondary certificate accepted.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant full‑time industry experience.
    • Ability to pass a 6G welding performance test using SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW.
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
    • Strong technology skills:
      Microsoft Office, Email, AutoCAD, Blackboard LMS.
    • OSHA 30 certified required; OSHA 500 certified bonus.
    • Prior experience educating students/apprentices preferred, not required.
    • Caring attitude and willingness to help students succeed.
    • Flexibility, teamwork, excellent communication, strong organization, record‑keeping, interpersonal skills, learning motivation, ability to prioritize.
    • Preferred:
      Bachelor’s degree, teaching experience, competency‑based instruction knowledge, diverse student experience, proficiency with LMS and welding simulation software.
