Sacred Music Minister - Immaculate Conception Parish – 231 East Center Street – Bellevue, OH 44811

Full-time preferred, $40K minimum salary, commensurate with experience, (Benefits available.)
The Sacred Music Minister is a full-time position supervised by the Pastor.
Responsibilities include:
forming and leading parish cantors & choir in coordination with parish clergy; managing music-related administrative tasks like scheduling and budget oversight; directing training and rehearsals; maintaining instruments. The sacred music minister plans and executes music for all weekend Liturgies, major feast days and solemnities, weddings and funerals, and other liturgical services throughout the year as scheduled. This role requires strong musical and organizational skills, a deep understanding of Catholic liturgy, and the ability to collaborate easily with parish staff, parishioners, and children.
We have a single campus location that includes a parochial school (PreK-8). This would also be a wonderful opportunity for someone seeking an entry-level position to develop experience in a parish setting.
- Promotes the development of Catholic liturgical music at Immaculate Conception Parish, utilizing a proper antiphons and hymnody provided by Source & Summit for parish liturgies.
- Responsible for forming and directing parish volunteers as cantors & choir members, as well as collaborations with parish primary school staff and students for particular liturgies.
- Plans and reviews the liturgical music with the pastor according to liturgical celebrations and Scripture selections.
- Participates in administrative meetings and associated office responsibilities as part of the parish’s pastoral staff.
- Coordinates liturgical music for weddings, funerals, and other sacramental celebrations (additional stipends are paid by the families for these services); responsible for arranging for a competent substitute when unavailable.
- Coordinates the hiring and payment of other musicians as needed for special occasions.
- Oversees the maintenance of the areas used by the choir and instruments, especially the pipe organ and piano, including maintaining the song boards and creating appropriate worship aids as needed.
- Firm understanding of Roman Catholic Liturgy and the role of sacred music within it.
- Experience in singing and choral direction.
- Proficiency in Organ & Piano:
Our primary instrument is a 31-rank, 3-manual pipe organ that was completely rebuilt by Muller Pipe Organ Company of Croton, Ohio in 2012. There is also a piano available in the loft. - Competency in organizational and interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with a variety of people.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with regional musicians.
- VIRTUS and BCI certification required.
