This is how you make impact as a Category Buyer

As a Category Buyer, you will implement the purchasing strategy for the suppliers or segments assigned to you in coordination with the Head of Purchasing and Corporate Procurement. In doing so, you will ensure a smooth procurement process, the implementation of supplier management, and the awarding of contracts.

You will work in the Purchasing department, within the Strategic Purchasing team, on a flexible working hours basis. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) and permanent.

• Completed vocational training with many years of relevant professional experience, or a qualification as a business economist / technician with several years of experience or a University degree (Bachelor) in business administration or electrical engineering, combined with initial practical work experience
• Solid business knowledge combined with a technical mindset
• Relevant professional experience in international purchasing and procurement
• Strong knowledge of national and international contract law and negotiation techniques
• Practical experience in project management is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Fluent Business English and German skills and intercultural competence
• Proficient in PC applications and IT systems
• Analytical, structured, and results-driven working style
• Proactive mindset, high level of commitment, professional and confident demeanor
• Initiative, assertiveness, strong communication and negotiation skills

• Make strategic decisions regarding the future type and intensity of supplier relationships in close coordination with Corporate Procurement
• Provide professional support to the purchasing team at the site
• Develop, execute, and continuously improve strategic procurement initiatives for the assigned product category (covering both Mechanical components and non-product-related (NPR) items)
• Conduct market research/analysis on potential suppliers and establish supplier partnerships
• Conduct innovation workshops and business review meetings with suppliers
• Analyze financial and supplier performance indicators, conduct price/terms benchmarking
