Role OverviewWe are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth by identifying, evaluating, and onboarding new brands, manufacturers, and products to sell through our ecommerce channels. This role is responsible for expanding our product assortment, strengthening supplier relationships, and sourcing high‑margin, in‑demand products that align with our operational and customer strategy.
This is a strategic, commercially focused role that blends market research, vendor negotiation, buying, and cross‑functional collaboration with merchandising, operations, and marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities Brand & Product Sourcing- Identify, research, and qualify new brands, manufacturers, and product lines for ecommerce distribution
- Analyze market trends, customer demand, competitive landscapes, and pricing dynamics
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective vendor and brand partners
- Lead outreach and relationship development with new vendors and brand partners
- Negotiate pricing, terms, MOQs, exclusivity, MAP policies, promotional support, return policies and sales guarantees.
- Evaluate supplier reliability, lead times, scalability, and compliance requirements
- Build business cases for new products, including margin, freight, landed cost, and profitability analysis for approval of president
- Partner with finance and operations to model unit economics and inventory investment
- Recommend product mix and assortment strategies
- Coordinate vendor onboarding, contracts, and system setup
- Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, legal (contract), and operations teams to ensure smooth product launches
- Support go‑to‑market planning including positioning, pricing strategy, and initial promotions
- Monitor performance of newly onboarded brands and products against sales and margin targets
- Identify opportunities to expand existing vendor relationships and product assortments
- Continuously optimize assortment based on performance data and customer feedback
- 2-5+ years of experience in business development, merchandising, category management, or vendor acquisition within ecommerce, retail, or consumer products
- Proven experience sourcing and onboarding new brands or product lines
- Strong negotiation and financial analysis skills
- Data‑driven mindset with experience evaluating margins, pricing, and profitability
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Experience working with domestic and/or international manufacturers
- Familiarity with ecommerce platforms, inventory systems, and marketplaces
- Understanding of MAP policies, wholesale vs. drop‑ship models, and private label sourcing
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check
