Senior Accountant- Manufacturing

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations for a manufacturing facility or multi-site operation. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective cost and inventory accounting while partnering closely with operations and plant leadership.

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis (labor, material, overhead, scrap), and inventory valuation.
• Supervise inventory controls such as cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of inventory balances.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Partner with plant operations to analyze manufacturing performance, identify cost drivers, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements (if applicable), and audit standards.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking, depreciation, and asset disposals.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate cost, inventory, and operational data.
• Oversee AP, AR, and payroll activities as they relate to plant or manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, responding to audit requests and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes, systems, and documentation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff, promoting accountability and professional growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and standard costing methodologies.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Net Suite, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Ability to partner effectively with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership.
