We're looking for Progressive Care Unit RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Newburgh, IN. The right RN should have 1-2 years recent acute care experience.
As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but aren't unstable enough to need ICU care. PCU RNs utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detecting changes and enabling intervention of life‑threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive significant amounts of complex medications, sometimes through an intravenous line that may need adjustment or titration.
The PCU RN is also called a step‑down nurse; the PCU is known as cardiac, medical, neuro, surgical step‑down and ER holding.
- Provide basic bedside care and stabilize critical cardiac patients.
- Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
- Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays.
- Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
- ACLS, BLS, NIH, 3 years of experience.
* Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
Total Med Travel Job . Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend to be determined.
