The Project Manager will provide leadership and direction for assigned heavy civil, highway, and bridge construction projects. You will manage project teams, finances, schedules, safety, and overall execution to ensure successful delivery of major infrastructure work. This is a hands‑on role ideal for a proven leader who thrives in a safety‑first, team‑oriented environment where most work is self‑performed.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and direct project teams (Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, and subcontractors), providing clear direction, support, and development.
- Oversee full project lifecycle from pre‑construction planning and estimating support through closeout for highways, bridges, utilities, grading, concrete paving, site development, and related heavy civil work.
- Develop, monitor, and control project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, and financial performance to maximize profitability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with owners, clients (e.g., INDOT/TXDOT), engineers, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
- Champion safety: enforce policies, conduct training, lead safety meetings, and maintain a zero‑incident culture across crews, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Manage contract administration, including change orders, RFIs, submittals, claims, documentation, and compliance with plans/specifications.
- Coordinate procurement, material deliveries, equipment from the company fleet, and labor resources.
- Conduct progress meetings, prepare reports, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies while building strong client relationships.
- Collaborate with internal estimating, safety, and equipment teams for seamless project transitions and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive Project Manager experience in heavy civil, highway, or bridge construction (larger DOT‑scale projects preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, materials, and best practices; familiarity with INDOT/TXDOT specifications is a significant plus.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, HCSS, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Valid driver’s license with clean record; willingness to travel to project sites in Indiana, Kentucky, and occasionally other states.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification (or equivalent) preferred; PMP or Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience (industry average for this role ~$115,000+).
- Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, retirement).
- Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
- Opportunities for professional growth in a stable, expanding company with a strong safety culture and reputation for excellence.
- Supportive, experienced team environment where your contributions directly impact project success and client satisfaction.
