Job Summary/Basic Function
- Serve as WSU’s Garden Club President: recruit and manage volunteers, as needed, to assist with garden and compost maintenance throughout the summer (April to Sept).
- Organize and execute a spring clean‑up of the garden where beds are weeded and prepared for planting, compost or manure is spread on the beds, and crop planting is planned.
- Prepare the garden to overwinter from October through November. This would include clearing irrigation lines, organizing theshed, and prepping and planting any overwinter crops.
- Coordinate with Employee Wellness and the Weber Cares Pantry to decide what is planted, recruit volunteers, schedule volunteer days, and get produce to the pantry.
- Chair WSU’s Community Garden committee: organize meetings, plan agendas, and send out minutes.
- Serve on WSU’s Food Sustainability Committee with the Food Sustainability Coordinator.
- Assist with community garden related content development for websites, newsletters, and other outreach materials.
- Assist WSU Food Recovery Network President as needed with weekly food recoveries.
- Assist with the implementation of additional sustainability programs and projects such as food drives, campus farmer’s market, and tree plantings.
- Must be a current WSU student with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and the Adobe Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to: technical writing, computer skills, public speaking, and oral presentation.
