The Network Security Engineer role at Peregrine Technical Solutions is a key position that supports federal and commercial customers by ensuring advanced cybersecurity for industrial control systems and the Internet of Things.

Peregrine's experienced staff knows the cybersecurity and operational technology environment and provides these capabilities for our customers daily.
SummaryThe Network Security Engineer manages firewalls and network perimeter security systems. The role documents and reports all systems changes, upgrades, and entry requests; develops proactive network security procedures designed to prevent intrusion attacks; performs network system security audits; and analyzes risk factors to recommend procedures and products that prevent intrusions.
Responsibilities- Document and report all system changes, upgrades, and entry requests.
- Develop proactive network security procedures designed to prevent intrusion attacks.
- Perform network system security audits.
- Analyze risk factors and recommend procedures and products that prevent intrusion attacks.
- In-depth knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and zero‑trust architectures.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and network segmentation.
- Experience securing enterprise networks, on‑prem and cloud environments.
- Proficiency with security monitoring, SIEM tools, and incident response procedures.
- Knowledge of vulnerability management, penetration testing concepts, and remediation practices.
- Familiarity with encryption technologies, PKI, and secure authentication methods.
- Ability to interpret and apply security standards and frameworks.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- Security+ Certification.
- Six years related experience and proven expertise in scanning/monitoring, intrusion detection, penetration testing, incident response, white/gray/black box testing, and system hardening.
- An ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance is required.
- CISSP certification.
