Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech assists with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in the operating room. Responsibilities include direct patient care, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon, operating room turnover between cases, collection and recording of clinical data, and collaboration with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision making.
What you will do- Demonstrate practical, technical, or specialized skills in accordance with the Association of Surgical Technologists
- Assist in preparing the operative suite, checking supplies, equipment, and instruments
- Maintain surgical asepsis in handling instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings
- Assist in the turnover of OR suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning equipment and environmental surfaces
- Prepare procedure rooms for the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, and “pulling cases” accurately, reporting needed items to the supervisor
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred)
- One year experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
- Valid BCLS certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable)
