Position Overview

Cimarron is seeking a senior‑level Electrical Designer to provide design support for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel (formerly GBSD) program in Ogden, UT. The role involves engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at multiple Air Force bases including Vandenberg AFB, F.E. This is a vital U.S. Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation’s aging ground‑based leg of the nuclear triad.

Cimarron is offering a $2,500 referral bonus for all full‑time hires.

Key Duties
  • Lead and support the preparation of electrical design deliverables, including 3D models, 2D drawings, material specifications, and installation details in compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Model electrical rooms, equipment, raceways, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection systems using Smart Plant 3D, Smart Sketch, AutoCAD, and related tools.
  • Create bills of materials, perform electrical design calculations (e.g., lighting layouts with AGI 32, ground grid layouts with ETAP), and prepare procurement documentation using Specs Intact.
  • Coordinate design activities and resolve interface issues with other engineering disciplines, systems engineering, and clients to ensure design accuracy and constructability.
  • Review and check design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and completeness; participate in constructability reviews and jobsite visits as required.
  • Mentor and support less experienced designers, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to Bechtel and industry design practices.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain an Active Secret clearance in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Must possess a valid, unexpired Real ‑compliant driver’s license or state‑issued  the time of hire.
  • Ability to complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screening, including testing for marijuana use.
  • Knowledge and application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Experience with an electronic cable management system (e.g., SETROUTE), including data input and database corrections.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other disciplines and manage competing deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
  • Relevant experience in preparing electrical system and equipment drawings for nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with a 3D CAD tool for electrical design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in engineering and office automation tools.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical engineering design principles, electrical systems, schematics, and layouts.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel corporate guides and standards, and thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables such as drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to resolve design issues both independently and in collaboration with engineering disciplines, construction teams, and clients.
  • Experience modeling piping, HVAC, and mechanical equipment in a Smart Plant 3D environment.
  • Previous project experience with DoD, DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA.
  • Experience working with procedures that meet quality assurance programs such as ISO‑9000.
  • Associate degree or certification and 6 or more years of experience.
