Job DescriptionResponsible for assisting in the administration of all aspects of the total school program by providing educational leadership for students and staff consistent with Ogden School District's vision, mission, and goals. The successful candidate must have experience in school improvement, data-driven instruction, professional learning communities, effective instructional practice and behavior management. Professional relations will be developed and maintained with staff and parents.
Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the school, the school grounds, and at other events/activities. Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission. Conforms to district policies including attendance, absences and evaluations and has knowledge of State Core Curriculum and Board of Education policies and procedures.
Assist the principal in developing and evaluating an annual school plan, assuring its coordination and implementation to reach desired goals. Performs related duties as required.
Assist the principal in administering and evaluating the instructional program of the school including:
Conducting instructional supervision and evaluation including classroom and teaching observations for assigned areas; implementing curriculum and educational objectives consistent with goals; developing an efficient system for pupil and program appraisal, recommending changes as needed to meet student needs; evaluating grading policies and pupil progress with members of the staff; assisting teachers in planning field trips and using community resources; providing leadership in initiating in-service programs and organizational improvements;
providing a climate conducive to effective communications through the use of faculty meetings, committees and individual conferences; coordinating the use of subject matter specialists, resource teachers, and other resource personnel. Assist the principal in coordinating and administering pupil personnel services including: implementing and maintaining a code of acceptable student behavior; coordinating and supervising student affairs including after-school activities; coordinating services to students such as guidance, health, and special education;
participating in eligibility meetings; supervising pupil record keeping; assisting in pupil scheduling. Assist the principals in administering staff personnel procedures in accordance with approved policies including: participating in the recruitment, placement and evaluation of all staff members; completing required reports; promoting a healthy and safe work environment; developing in-service training. Assist the principal in administering the financial and building needs of the school including: establishing building maintenance schedules and evaluating their effectiveness;
supervising the use of the school and grounds by all agencies; ordering necessary instructional materials, textbooks, equipment and analyzing the usage of such materials in conjunction with the principal. Assist the principal in establishing and maintaining an effective school/community relations program to include: communicating with parents by means of school programs, letters, phone, and personal contact.
Successful candidate must currently have an administrative certificate, or Associate Educator License for school leadership, or obtain one by July 1, 2026. Must have passed, or pass, Rater Certification prior to evaluating employees.
Physical Conditions and Nature of Work ContactsSenior school administrative work is typically performed in a school setting to include classrooms, cafeterias and recreational areas. Regular coordination with school bus scheduling requiring outside activity in frequent inclement weather is necessary. Daily liaison activity throughout the school building and grounds is necessary. Occasional attendance to school-related activities throughout the state and after normal working hours is necessary. Daily contact is made with students, teachers and school administrators.
Regular contact is made with parents and the community. Occasional contact with School Board members and state administrators is necessary. Regular contact is made with the school staff.
Will be evaluated using the Utah Effective Leadership Standards. Provisional Administrators will be evaluated no less than two times per year. Career Status Administrators will be evaluated no less than one time per year.
