FLSAJob Summary /Basic Function
Community Leader Fellows know their neighborhood in East Central Ogden. They care about their neighbors and want to help their neighborhoods become their best as they build their own community organizing abilities. Fellows participate in a eight-month training program which includes the completion of a community organizing project and participation in a group community project. During the training fellows are given numerous opportunities to gain knowledge, skills and connections to make real and lasting change in their own neighborhoods.
This fellowship is paid $17 – $17.50 per hour for 10 hours per week during the training.
Second year fellows are paid $17.50 – $18 per hour for 5 to 10 hours per week.
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
- Must live in or near the East Central Neighborhood of Ogden, UT (20th to 30th Streets, Washington to Harrison Blvds).
- There are no education requirements for this position.
- 3 – 5 years experience in the East Central Neighborhood and familiarity with the concerns faced by most residents.
- Able to speak English fluently.
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally in oral and written formats.
- Organized, dependable, and accountable for your work.
- Committed to complete the 8-month Community Leaders training.
- Willing to participate in yearly check-ins to track community leadership engagement and long-term effects of the fellowship.
Second year fellows will complete additional training in Design and Systems Thinking and Asset Based Community Development at their own pace
- Speak a second language relevant to the East Central Neighborhood.
- Experience building connections with neighbors.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, motivational skills, organizational skills, facilitation skills and attention to detail.

Due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision.Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
