Overview
Cook Assistant In the role of Cook Assistant, your meticulous approach and collaborative attitude will be invaluable. Assisting our Cook, you will play a vital part in promoting child wellness by supporting the effectiveness and efficiency of the nutrition services provided to Head Start children. Your patient and methodical nature will shine as you help maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all applicable CACFP and Head Start regulations.

Responsibilities- Create and maintain an inventory of food and non-food items at the beginning and end of each school year, and at other times as necessary.
- Track budget for all food and non-food items, and keep complete and accurate records of all purchases by following purchasing procedures.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitary.
- Assist teaching staff in integrating nutrition education into the curriculum.
- Accommodating and analytical, while producing highly precise and accurate work
- Collaborative and approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work
- Consistent and methodical with repetitive routine and established procedures
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Part-time, 20-hour workweek, seasonal, eligible for unemployment in the summer months
- Starting wage at $16.16 per hour (additional education will be considered in final pay rate)
