The Student Pathways Peer Advisor will assist with campus-wide retention and student initiatives and help new students transition to the University. Typical work hours fall within the hours of 8-5 Monday through Friday. Some evening hours and Saturdays may be required. The Student Pathways Unit operates 12 months of the year. Staff in this position assist with orientation events during the summer semester.
Roles and Responsibilities Retention and Student Initiatives- Communicating with admitted, continuing, and returning students.
- Connecting with students via drop-ins at the area front desk, information tables, phone, email, and text to address concerns and answer questions about services, opportunities, or needs.
- Refer the student to appropriate Weber State services or departments.
- Following up on student concerns.
- Set advising appointments for Advisors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Meet deadlines for assigned projects.
- Adhere to assigned timelines and work schedule.
- Logging and tracking mentoring work.
- Ability to learn and use Banner, Starfish, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite.
- Data entry of student information.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist and support the preparation and implementation of all aspects of the Weber Welcome and Wildcat Supporter Orientation, which could include but is not limited to packing items for new students, answering questions, calling new students, leading group discussions, participating in breakout sessions, etc.
- Engage in conversation while encouraging and inspiring incoming students.
- Facilitate engaging group tours and discussions to inform new students about campus resources and policies.
- Represent Weber State University and demonstrate professionalism, respect, and positive customer service to all program attendees.
- Lifting and carrying of objects under 25 lbs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Current Weber State University full-time (12 credits+) degree-seeking student.
- Must be in good academic standing by maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- Must be in good conduct standing, having no pending or active conduct cases at the time of application through the end of employment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Background check is required.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Demonstrate a commitment to promoting an environment where all students and staff are welcome and heard.
- Prior involvement in campus clubs, organizations, or other campus roles such as Peer Coach or Student Ambassador.
- Preference will be given to students with at least one or more school years completed.
- Banner, Starfish, Microsoft, and Google background and knowledge.
- Strong excitement for Weber State University.

Physical RequirementsSedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds; sitting most of the time. Light work, up to 20 pounds occasionally; use of arms and legs to exert forces greater than sedentary work.
Visual Acuity RequirementsIncludes color, depth perception, and field of vision. Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, using a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
Environmental ConditionsThe worker will not be substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions typical of office or administrative work.
