Job Description

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Canyon View Elementary for an Elementary Behavior Unit Sp. Ed. Para educator. This position is for 5.75 hours per day, 9 months per year. Applicants may apply on Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.

Responsibilities:

Work under the direction of a behavior specialist to intervene with students with challenging behavior.

Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior.

Interpret and implement written behavior plans.

Engage in intensive teaching activities such as Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) and naturalistic teaching with appropriate reinforcement strategies.

Utilize and model positive behavior supports with students.

Implement data collection systems and accurately collect and summarize data.

Model and train school staff on specific interventions and procedures to address problem behavior.

Collaborate with school team members to provide instruction and support effectively.

Regular work attendance is critical.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and maintain various postures for extended periods.

Must provide own transportation to various school settings with reimbursement as applicable.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completed coursework and/or experience in education, social work, behavioral science, human development or related fields.

Obtain and/or maintain certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
