Overview
The University of Utah seeks world‑class leaders in neurotechnology, brain‑computer interfaces, and bionics for multiple tenure‑track assistant professor openings. Candidates will have a primary appointment in an engineering department with a secondary or adjunct appointment in a medical department. The search spans Electrical & Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, Radiology & Imaging Sciences, and interdepartmental centers.
ResearchInterests
- Neural interfaces and neuroprostheses
- Neurorobotics and neural signal processing
- Brain‑computer interfaces and neuromodulation
- Implantable cortical BCI and spinal neuromodulation
- Hardware/software design for neurotechnology
- Develop and lead an independent extramurally funded research program in neural engineering.
- Conduct collaborative research with engineering, medical, and industry partners.
- Deliver effective classroom instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Engage in service within the university and professional communities.
- Ph.D., Sc.D., or M.D. in neural engineering or a closely aligned area.
- Demonstrated record of high‑impact research and extramural funding.
- Strong teaching effectiveness at core and specialized engineering courses.
- Experience with clinical trials, entrepreneurship, and industry collaborations preferred.
