Overview

The University of Utah seeks world‑class leaders in neurotechnology, brain‑computer interfaces, and bionics for multiple tenure‑track assistant professor openings. Candidates will have a primary appointment in an engineering department with a secondary or adjunct appointment in a medical department. The search spans Electrical & Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, Radiology & Imaging Sciences, and interdepartmental centers.

• Neural interfaces and neuroprostheses
• Neurorobotics and neural signal processing
• Brain‑computer interfaces and neuromodulation
• Implantable cortical BCI and spinal neuromodulation
• Hardware/software design for neurotechnology

• Develop and lead an independent extramurally funded research program in neural engineering.
• Conduct collaborative research with engineering, medical, and industry partners.
• Deliver effective classroom instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Engage in service within the university and professional communities.

• Ph.D., Sc.D., or M.D. in neural engineering or a closely aligned area.
• Demonstrated record of high‑impact research and extramural funding.
• Strong teaching effectiveness at core and specialized engineering courses.
• Experience with clinical trials, entrepreneurship, and industry collaborations preferred.
