Job Summary / Basic Function

The Admissions Office provides support to students, faculty, staff, parents, counselors and other clients in the areas of admission and residency. As one of the first departments that students will interact with, the Admissions Office prides itself on its ability to welcome all incoming students with excellent customer service.

Provide in-depth customer service to students, faculty, staff, parents, and counselors that effectively meets their needs in person, over the phone, and email. Many situations are unique and Admissions Student Aides must use knowledge of the student information system, campus functions, and problem solving skills to assist individuals.

Effectively respond to incoming phone calls and check work email consistently throughout the shift.

Daily packaging and mailing of Admissions Office materials.

Recording and entry of transcripts, test scores, and reports into a student information system, and other clerical duties as assigned.

This is a part-time hourly position that can continue year round. We are flexible and will work around your class schedule. We typically schedule between 16 – 20 hours per week.

Work Study or 50/50 eligible students may be given preference.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma / GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • If hired, students will be required to take FERPA training within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong communication and composition skills
  • Weber State knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Banner
  • Reliable, detail oriented and self motivated
  • Willingness to learn
  • Foreign language skills or ASL

Due to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or consistently to move objects, including the human body. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing only occasionally if ever.

Visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision. Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Conditions of Employment

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., typical office or administrative work).
