$70,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Plumber - Maintenance Worker III plays an essential role in the Physical Plant department, responsible for installing new plumbing systems, maintaining and repairing existing fixtures, and addressing urgent maintenance needs across UTPB's Odessa and Midland campuses. This position works closely with maintenance staff, building managers, and other campus departments to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and supportive of the University's academic and operational goals.
The role contributes to preventive maintenance programs, responds to service requests, and assists with occasional electrical and related tasks to improve overall building operations. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated, skilled professional who values craftsmanship, problem-solving, and keeping campus facilities running smoothly for students, faculty, and staff.
1. Perform various maintenance duties with a focus on plumbing
2. New plumbing installation
3. Maintain existing plumbing systems
4. Clean out sewer lines
5. Occasional water heater installation
6. Occasional RO filter changes
7. Minor electrical work may be required
8. Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner
9. On call rotation will be required after 6 month probationary period
Required Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalency
2. Ten (10) years experience in plumbing
3. Possess State of Texas Master's Plumbing license
4. Possess organizational skills and able to communicate effectively
5. Possess a clean and valid Texas driver's license for at least three (3) years
6. Ability to follow safety precautions. Job may entail moderate exposure to chemical, environmental, and various other hazards that require strict adherence to procedures
Preferred Qualifications
1. Fifteen (15) years' experience in plumbing
2. Combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
3. Able to read, write, and comprehend English as well as perform basic mathematical computations

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm;
Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
