Provide the knowledge and support for carpentry and construction to the employees and co-workers in the Physical Plant Department.

Specific Position Duties

Carpenter is responsible for preventative maintenance on interior and exterior college buildings. Perform occasional tasks within the department as assigned by supervisor or director such as basic plumbing, HVAC, irrigation system repairs, groundskeeping, painting, basic construction, or assisting with general maintenance duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum two years on-the-job experience with skills in the following areas:
Knowledge of various types of building construction;
Ability to ready work from drawings;
Drywall finishing and installation;
Cabinet building for paint or stain grade;
Acoustical ceiling and installation repair;
Concrete finishing, masonry, finish work;
Must meet the requirements of becoming a licensed driver;
Welding, glazing, and floor tile installation and repair;
Reading instructions for modular furniture and equipment.
