Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Main Operating Room position at a Level II Trauma hospital, requiring 2-3 years of OR experience and Da Vinci Xi robotic surgery proficiency.
Responsibilities- Main Operating Room setting within a Level II Trauma, teaching, and community hospital environment
- Evening shift: 14:30–21:00 (5x8-hour shifts), Monday–Friday
- Call required: 1 weekday and 1 weekend per month
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- Specialties include robotic (Da Vinci Xi), orthopedic, spine/neuro, general/GYN, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and trauma cases
- Extensive surgical case mix including bariatric, cardiovascular, thoracic, plastics, pediatric subspecialties, and endoscopic procedures
- Equipment used includes cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana Table, and Steris systems
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Orientation is approximately 3–4 days
- Scrub and circulate across a broad range of surgical specialties including orthopedic, spine/neuro, vascular, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, GYN, and trauma
- Professional skills include cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, IV insertion, urinary catheterization, infection control, and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Trauma Level I experience is preferred but not required
- CVOR, Hybrid OR, and Pedi General OR experience is preferred
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 2–3 years of OR nursing experience strongly preferred
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- 2 supervisory references from within the last 3 years of employment required for consideration
