Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) - Full-Time | Odessa, TX

Department:
Infusion & Transplant | Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM | No weekends, call, or major holidays

Texas Oncology is seeking both a full-time Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Odessa team. This role supports our Infusion Department and plays a vital part in delivering high‑quality, compassionate cancer care to our patients.

Position Overview

Under minimal supervision, the Infusion RN provides professional nursing care in accordance with national standards, clinical guidelines, and Texas Oncology protocols. This role requires strong clinical judgment, compassion, and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support patients and families throughout their treatment journey.

The RN must demonstrate an understanding of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences across late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and older adults.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Care

+ Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care to ensure continuity and quality

+ Assess patient and family needs, providing education and instructional materials

+ Prepare and administer therapies under physician supervision

+ Administer medications and blood products safely, following correct dosage, route, timing, and technique

+ Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line devices

+ Monitor labs, assess patient status, and collaborate with physicians on dose modifications and symptom management

+ Ensure pre‑authorizations and consent forms are completed when required

+ Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all care provided

Patient Support & Coordination

+ Provide psychosocial support to patients and families

+ Educate patients on treatment plans, side effects, and self‑care

+ Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team

+ Triage patient phone calls and document relevant information

+ Coordinate consultations, diagnostic tests, procedures, referrals, and follow‑up appointments

Operational Support

+ Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program

+ Support clinical operations and maintain a clean, safe work environment

+ Ensure efficient patient flow in and out of exam and infusion rooms

+ Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture

Qualifications

+ Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred

+ 0-3 years of RN experience (entry, mid, and senior ‑level candidates welcome)

+ Current RN license in the state of Texas

+ Current BLS certification

+ Oncology or specialty clinical experience preferred

+ Adaptable, fast‑paced, team‑oriented, and committed to exceptional patient care

Working Conditions

+ Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common in oncology/hematology settings

+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods
