Description
Position Summary
The Recycling Warehouse Assistant supports daily warehouse and recycling operations by sorting, handling, and processing recyclable materials. This role ensures materials are properly organized, contamination is minimized, and safety standards are consistently followed. The position requires physical labor, attention to detail, and adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Sort and separate recyclable materials (paper, plastic, metal, cardboard, etc.) according to company standards
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, containers, and bins
- Operate basic warehouse equipment such as balers, compactors, forklifts (if certified), and pallet jacks
- Inspect incoming materials for contamination and report issues to supervisor
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist with inventory tracking and material counts
Prepare materials for shipment or processing - Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Assist with general warehouse duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous warehouse, recycling, or labor experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Basic understanding of recycling processes is a plus
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather conditions
- Ability to tolerate dust, odors, and noise associated with recycling operations
- Warehouse and recycling facility setting
- Exposure to moving machinery and equipment
- Requires adherence to strict safety protocols
- Forklift Certification
- OSHA Safety Training
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures
- Report unsafe conditions immediately
- Participate in safety meetings and training
