We re seeking a skilled and hands-on Natural Gas Commissioning Technician to join our team
. In this role, you ll be responsible for commissioning natural gas systems, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. You ll work with engines, electrical systems, PLCs, and control panels, troubleshooting issues and verifying system performance. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, mechanically and electrically skilled, and thrives in a collaborative, technical environment.
- Oversee and perform the commissioning of natural gas systems, including pressure testing, start-up, and performance verification.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain natural gas system engines and related equipment.
- Manage and operate Caterpillar equipment, CIP units, and aerial platforms for system inspections and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues during commissioning.
- Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and control panels to ensure proper system functionality.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of commissioning activities, test results, system configurations, and modifications.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to coordinate commissioning tasks and resolve technical issues.
- Provide guidance and training to junior technicians or team members as needed.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing observations, recommendations, and any issues encountered during commissioning.
- Proven experience in commissioning, operation, and maintenance of natural gas systems and engines.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLCs and control panels.
- Experience operating Caterpillar equipment, CIP units, or aerial platforms preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulatory compliance for natural gas systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed technical reports.
- Willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
- Must be able to pass the background and MVR check, drug and alcohol screen, and physical exam.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing while performing commissioning and maintenance on natural gas systems. The role involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, operating tools and equipment, and working at heights or on aerial platforms. Technicians must work safely in varying environmental conditions, including noise, heat, cold, and industrial hazards, using required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots, with sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform all duties safely.
