About the RoleThe Skid Steer Operator is responsible for safely operating skid steer loaders to perform site preparation, grading, asphalt spreading, and related construction tasks. This role ensures equipment is maintained properly, job plans are followed accurately, and work is completed efficiently in varying weather conditions.
What You’ll Accomplish- Operate skid steer loaders to move asphalt, gravel, and construction materials
- Prepare job sites by clearing debris, leveling surfaces, and assisting paving crews
- Load and unload trucks and transport materials efficiently around the site
- Compact surfaces and assist with base preparation for asphalt placement
- Perform daily equipment inspections for mechanical issues, leaks, and tire condition
- Conduct basic maintenance including refueling, cleaning, and lubrication
- Follow safety guidelines and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure safe and efficient workflow
- Promote and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of skid steer experience in asphalt or paving operations
- Daily travel required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to operate skid steer loaders with precision and efficiency
- Experience with skid steer attachments (buckets, forks, sweepers, etc.)
- Ability to perform site preparation, grading, and asphalt spreading according to specifications
- Ability to follow project plans and supervisor instructions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety standards
- Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and changing weather conditions
- Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and properly use required PPE, including respirators where required
