Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for a Fire Sprinkler Service Apprentice in our Ocoee, FL. branch to work in the surrounding areas. The Fire Sprinkler Service Apprentice at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. assists in laying out, assembling, and installing pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for fire sprinkler systems in commercial and multi-family settings.
This role involves performing all types of sprinkler work on-site, to include trouble-shooting, diagnosing, and repair of fire sprinkler systems and components, with the goal that all work is to be completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with relevant codes and WAFS standards. The apprentice works directly under the guidance of the fire sprinkler service technician.
Position Responsibilities Follow procedures and direction from the fire sprinkler service technician for the installation and repair of fire sprinkler systems and components as well as working to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and to required standards. Follows the direction of the fire sprinkler service technician for the layout, assembly, and installation of pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
This includes gaining knowledge of fire sprinkler system operations and interpreting blueprints and installation instructions. Assist in the completion of service work orders, which may include fitting overhead pipe, carrying materials, ladders, and other items (up to 50 lbs.), including up and down stairs. Perform maintenance and replacement work on system components, such as valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
Proactively notify the service technician of any issues, concerns, or changes on the job site. Comply with all work and safety rules and proper safety protocols on the job site. Loads the trucks with all necessary materials, tools, and equipment. Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment. Wear a clean company uniform at all times.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Perform other duties as assigned by the service technician or superintendent/manager.
What are the Qualifications for this position?
* Construction experience is preferred but not required.
* Basic knowledge of hand tools.
* Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.
