Overview

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking a Logistics Specialist I. Responsibilities

The Logistics Specialist I plays a key role in supporting daily warehouse, shipping, inventory, and shop floor control activities. This position coordinates domestic transportation, manages material movement, maintains accurate ERP transactions, and ensures efficient, cost-effective logistics operations that meet customer and production needs. The role works closely with production, planning, purchasing, and carrier partners to maintain material availability and seamless logistics flow throughout the facility.

Shipping

& Logistics Coordination
  • Coordinate and schedule domestic shipments for customer orders and inter-company transfers.
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation such as bills of lading and airway bills, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
  • Interface with freight forwarders, trucking companies, and internal teams to resolve service issues and improve logistics processes.
  • Review and reconcile freight invoices, monitor transportation costs, and investigate discrepancies with Finance.
  • Conduct routine carrier performance reviews and assist in obtaining competitive freight quotes.
  • Provide proactive shipment status updates to internal teams and escalate delays or disruptions.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles as needed and maintain compliance with warehouse safety procedures.
Inventory Control & Material Handling
  • Monitor raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory levels to support production operations.
  • Perform daily cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and identify root causes for variances.
  • Issue, transfer, and return materials using the ERP system, ensuring accurate real-time inventory visibility.
  • Coordinate material staging and replenishment for production work centers.
  • Communicate material shortages, constraints, or inventory issues to Production, Planning, and Purchasing.
ERP & Shop Floor Control
  • Enter and validate production and inventory transactions (material issues, completions, scrap, labor entries).
  • Troubleshoot ERP transaction errors and collaborate with Planning or IT to resolve system issues.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate item master data, BOM components, and routings as needed.
  • Track work order progress to ensure schedule adherence and material readiness.
  • Support shop floor supervisors with WIP tracking and work order closure.
  • Ensure work order documents, travelers, and labels are accurate and available at each work center.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
  • Partner with Customer Service, Sales, Operations, and Planning to align logistics activities with business priorities.
  • Mentor entry-level logistics staff in shipping processes, documentation, and system use.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and U.S. transportation regulations.
  • Perform additional duties or project-based assignments as required.
Work Environment
  • Role is primarily performed in a warehouse and shop-floor environment with daily interaction with materials and equipment.
  • PPE may be required in certain areas (provided by Hexagon).
  • Requires frequent bending, lifting, and handling of items up to 75 lbs.
  • Regular use of computers, scanners, and standard office and shipping equipment.
  • No regular travel required.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, including material shipping, receiving, packaging, and transportation coordination within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping procedures and transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
  • Hands-on experience with Fed Ex and UPS shipping systems, including rate quoting and label generation.
